Canadian Federation of Engineering Students
The Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) is a national, bilingual organization that represents approximately 60,000 engineering students across Canada. They offer services ranging from leadership development conferences to technical skill competitions, including a national student magazine and other outreach efforts. The CFES aims to provide opportunities in support of an all-encompassing education for engineering students in Canada with the goal of all Canadian engineering students becoming unparalleled professionals in their field.
Western Engineering Students’ Societies Team
The Western Engineering Students’ Societies Team (WESST) is an alliance of all the engineering undergraduate students’ societies in western Canada. For the last 20 years, WESST has been improving student societies through an informal association of information and a medium for sharing ideas to learn about people and schools. WESST is the organization that represents the western region for the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES). Currently, there are thirteen member schools who participate in WESST events, such as Western Engineering Competition and other conferences. Western Engineering Competition is a competition open to all engineering students of the WESST member schools. The categories of the competition range from design to impromptu debate. At WESST Retreat, informal sessions and discussions are held to review the structure, mandate, and existence of WESST.
