President
The President shall:
* Co-ordinate RESS Council activities
* Chair all meetings of the RESS at which s/he is present
* Ensure that all Council members are fulfilling their responsibilities and acting in the best interests of the RESS
* Be ultimately responsible for actions taken by the RESS
* Be responsible for RESS succession planning, as well as actions to ensure a smooth transition between changing Councils.
* Act as a chief spokesperson on behalf of the RESS
* Be the primary interpreter of the RESS Constitution and Operations Manual
* Be the liaison between the RESS and university security, physical plant and other university departments
* Have co-endorsement authority of cheques or monetary transactions under the name of the RESS
* Be responsible for the duties of any vacant council position
* Be responsible for the coordination of at least one RESS Event
* Attend all (PAC) Presidents Advisory Committee meetings scheduled by the Student’s Union
Vice-President External Affairs
The Vice-President External Affairs shall:
Be the liaison with the following groups, including but not limited to:
URSU Board of Directors
WESST
CFES
Other universities’ engineering students’ societies
Be responsible for the coordination of appropriate conference attendance at General Conferences, as defined in the RESS Policy Manual 9.2.
Be responsible for the coordination of supervision of Delegation at the General Conferences, as defined in the RESS Policy Manual 9.2.
Be responsible for the coordination of the events during Nation Engineering Month of each year.
Be responsible for the coordination of the Regina Engineering Competition.
Coordination duties prevent competition during the event.
Be responsible for presenting the recent activities of WESST and CFES at RESS General Meetings.
Be the co-leader of the Professional Affairs Team, as defined in the RESS Policy Manual 7.4.
Vice-President Communications
The Vice President Communications shall:
* Be responsible for the maintenance of the RESS web page
* Be responsible for publicizing all RESS functions
* Be responsible for RESS submissions to the URSU Handbook and other publications as required
* Be responsible for regularly posting all Council meeting minutes for public viewing, locations including but not limited to the RESS website and the RESS Bulletin Board.
* Be responsible for coordination of minutes at Council and General meetings
* Be responsible for maintaining and updating both hard and soft copies of all official RESS documents and archives
* Be responsible for keeping the articles of incorporation up to date
* Be responsible for the annual publication of the RESS handbook and its advertising contract
* Every semester announce to one core class of every year how to get RESS funding for intramural teams
* Be responsible for the coordination of at least one RESS Event
* Be the leader of the Communications Team
Vice-President Social
The Vice-President Social shall:
* Organize and Chair the social committee
* Plan and orchestrate all RESS social events, including but not limited to:
* BeerFest
* Second Year Mug Ceremony
* Beer in the Lounge
* Promote the continued relationship with business partners through the use of their products and services offered; including but not limited to:
* The Owl
* Be responsible for presenting social event budgets to the RESS Executive Council for approval in coordination with VP Finance
* Be the co-leader of the Student Life Team
Student Services Director
The Student Services Director shall:
* Assist the Vice-President Academic and carry out tasks assigned to them
* Assist in the co-ordination and advertisement of the Tutorial Program, Mentorship Program, and academic related events
* Be responsible for the administration of academic concerns and academic complaints
* Be responsible for the co-ordination of at least one RESS Event
* Be a member of the Academic Team
Visual Media Director
The Visual Media Director shall:
* Assist the RESS by creating visual media as needed
* Be responsible for creating and updating the website format & design
* Be responsible for creating, maintaining and making available all RESS templates, logos and letterhead
* Take photos at all RESS events
* Be responsible for posting event photos to public locations including but not limited to the RESS website and the RESS Facebook page
* Be an individual whom is skilled with the creation and editing of visual media
* Be a member of the Communications Team
Publications Director
The Publications Director shall:
* Be responsible for the publication of the Engineering Newspaper at least once per semester
* Assist the Vice-President Communications with the annual publication of the RESS handbook
* Be responsible for the coordination of at least one RESS Event
* Take minutes at Council Meetings
* Be a member of the Communications Team
Industry Relations Director
The Industry Relations Director shall:
* Actively seek new industry partnerships
* Maintain current partnerships through regular contact regarding updates, news, sponsorship requests, advertisement opportunities and other topics of interest
* Be responsible for the coordination of Year 1-4 Reception
* Be responsible for the coordination of at least one RESS Event
* Be a member of the Professional Affairs Team
Social Equality Representative
The Social Equality Representative shall:
Be the liaison between the RESS and ethnic, gender, religious and sexual orientation groups on campus regarding concerns of social equality.
Promote social equality amongst the engineering community.
Provide information on complementary education regarding social equality.
Facilitate educational sessions focused on social equality.
Assist the Vice-President Social to ensure social sensitivity and inclusivity at all RESS events.
Be a member of the Student Life Team, as defined in the RESS Policy Manual 7.5.
International Students Representative
The International Students’ Representative shall:
* Encourage the involvement of international, Study Abroad, and Exchange students at RESS events
* Address and act on concerns of international, Study Abroad, and Exchange students
* Be the liaison with UR International and the URSU International Students Director
* Be a member of the Academic team
Faculty Representative
The Faculty Representative Shall
* Be a liaison between the staff members of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and the RESS
* Consult with the Vice-President Finance to ensure the fiscal responsibility of the RESS
First Year Communication
* Be responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Iron Ring Ceremony in conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and the Grad Committee
* Be responsible for organizing and chairing the Grad Committee
* Be responsible for working with the Grad Committee to organize the Grad Banquet
* Be appointed prior to the end of September
* Be graduating in the upcoming year
* Be a member of the Professional Affairs Team
First Year Chair
* Inform the first year class, on a regular basis, of the events and services of the RESS
* Co-ordinate the First Year Council activities
* Chair all meetings of the First Year Council at which s/he is present
* Ensure that all First Year Council members are fulfilling their responsibilities and acting in the best interests of the RESS
* Be ultimately responsible for actions taken by the First Year Council
* Notify the Council of any concerns or interests of the first year class
* Be responsible for all financial documentation of the First Year Council
* Be actively involved with the planning and operation of RESS social and charity functions
* Be a member of the Academic Team
Vice-President Internal Affrais
The VP Internal Affaris shall:
Be the liaison with the following groups, including but not limited to:
Canstruction
Engineers Without Borders
Cougar Racing
U of R IEEE Student Branch
All U of R campus societies
Be responsible for the coordination of Engineering Frosh Week.
Assist the VP External Affairs in the coordination of the Regina Engineering Competition.
Coordination duties prevent competition during the event being coordinated.
Be actively involved with the planning and operation of all RESS events.
Promote the ideals of engineering and the RESS among both engineering students and the U of R student body.
Be the co-leader of the Student Life Team, as defined in the RESS Policy Manual 7.5.
Vice-President Finance
* Be responsible for the management of moneys received or negotiated for by the RESS
* Be responsible for the RESS bank account, in conjunction with the RESS President
* Present financial updates at every Council meeting and present a statement of accounts at RESS general meetings
* Be consulted on all financial matters of the RESS
* Be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and posting an annual budget and financial plan
* Be responsible for maintaining written financial records
* Be responsible for completing internal audits or organizing external audits
* Prepare and submit the annual financial statements to the Information Services Corporation Corporate Registry
* Be the leader of the Finance Team
Vice-President Academic
The Vice-President Academic shall:
* Assist the President in co-ordinating Council business
* Assume the President’s duties in his/her absence
* Be the liaison between the Dean and an Student-Faculty of Engineering committees
* Be the liaison with the URSU student advocate
* In conjunction with the Vice-President Finance, have co-endorsement authority of cheques or monetary transactions under the name of the RESS
* Address issues regarding the quality of education being provided by the University of Regina
* Act on student academic concerns and academic complaints
* Be responsible for the Supplemental Tutorial Program
* Co-ordinate student representation on faculty search committees on the Engineering Equipment Fund
* Co-ordinate and advertise the Supplemental Tutorial Program
* Properly document all tutorial agreements and arrangements
* Prepare an accurate financial accounting of all Tutorial Program expenses each semester
* Be responsible for the coordination of academic related events
* Be the leader of the Academic Team
Vice-President Professional Affairs
The Vice-President Professional Affairs shall:
* Be the liaison with the following groups:
* Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
* Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (CCPE)
* Regina Engineering Society (RES)
* University of Regina Engineering Grad Committee
* Canstruction
* Engineers without Borders
* Cougar Motorsports
* Be responsible for the co-ordination of the Year 1-4 Reception
* Be responsible for the co-ordination of at least one (1) professional engineering mixer
* Be responsible for maintaining liability insurance
* Actively seeking community donations supplier
* Pursue corporate sponsorship for events in coordination with the Industry Relations Director
* Assume the duties of the Grad Director in the vacancy of such position
* Be the leader of the Professional Affairs Team
Student Life Director
The Student Life Director shall:
* Promote the ideals of engineering and the RESS among both engineering students and the University of Regina student body
* Encourage RESS members to participate in the various RESS social events and charity functions
* Be responsible for planning no less than:
* One task for Frosh Week
* One competition for the Regina Engineering Competition
* One competition for Engineering Week
* One Beer in the Lounge
* Be actively involved with the planning and operation of all RESS events.
* Assist the Vice-President Social and Vice-President Student Associations carrying out tasks.
* Be a member of the Student Life Team
Stores Director
The Stores Director shall:
* Be responsible for all stores items
* Be responsible for monthly inventories of stores items
* Be in charge of ordering stores items
* Be responsible, in conjunction with the VP Communications, for the advertisement of available stores items
* Be responsible for running an engineering merchandise kiosk at no less than one major RESS even in both the Fall and Winter semesters.
* Be responsible for posting store hours each semester and being available to sell store items during those times
* Be responsible for the coordination of at least one RESS Event
* Be a member of the Finance Team
Charity Director
The Charity Director shall:
* Be responsible for coordinating Pie In The Eye
* Be responsible for coordinating Movember
* Be responsible for coordinating Milkfest
* Pursue at least one (1) joint charity event with URSU each school year
* Be a member of the Student Life Team
Lounge Director
The Lounge Director shall:
* Ensure that the RESS lounge provides services, for lounging, needed by the Membership
* Ensure the lounge A/V equipment is cared for
* Ensure that a complete first aid kit is maintained
* Prepare coffee on Mondays
* In the case where the Lounge Director will be away on work experience the Executive will appoint temporary relief, first consideration goes to the runners up from the RESS general election
* Be responsible for the coordination of at least one RESS Event
* Be a member of the Finance Team
Year Representative
The Class Representative shall:
* Be appointed by the incoming council for years 2, 3, 4 and 5 in time to transition with the outgoing Council
* Stay current with RESS activities through meeting attendance, meeting minutes review, or communication with the Academic Team.
* Communicate with members of his/her year regarding RESS activities and academic concerns
* Voice the concerns of his/her respective year to the VP Academic
* Be appointed prior to the end of September
* Be members of the Professional Affairs Team
Alumni Representative
The Alumni Representative shall:
* Provide continuity to the council during transitions between elections
* Provide advice and support to members of the RESS
* Ensure that all RESS members and Council members are acting in the best interests of the RESS
* Be a member of the Academic Team
Grad Representative
* Be responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Iron Ring Ceremony in conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and the Grad Committee
* Be responsible for organizing and chairing the Grad Committee
* Be responsible for working with the Grad Committee to organize the Grad Banquet
* Be appointed prior to the end of September
* Be graduating in the upcoming year
* Be a member of the Professional Affairs Team
