NCWiE 2014 Registration

The Regina Engineering Students’ Society (RESS) is opening registration to National Conference on Women in Engineering (NCWiE) 2014 in Saskatoon to its members. The conference will be held at the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon. The conference starts at 12:00 (noon) on Friday, November 14th and goes until Sunday, November 16th at 17:00.

The NCWiE is a national student run conference held annually through the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students. NCWiE is held over a weekend in November and brings together approximately 150 undergraduate student leaders from universities across Canada to discuss diversity with sponsors and speakers.

RESS will be sending 10?of its member to NCWiE 2014 in Saskatoon. Each delegate shall pay a delegate fee between $75 – $100. Priority will be given to society members with a history of ambition in student involvement within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. Registration closes on October 6, 2014. On September 24, 2014, the RESS will hold an election to fill the positions of VP Social, Lounge Director, First-Year Chair, First-Year Events Director, and First-Year Communications Director. ?You may have noticed the campaign posters displayed around the University and inside the engineering lounge, but just in case you did not, here are the candidates and the positions they are running for:

WESST Retreat & Olympics 2014

The Regina Engineering Students’ Society (RESS) is opening registration to Western Engineering Students Societies Team Retreat & Olympics (WESST R&O) 2014 in British Columbia to its members. The conference will be held at Gambier Island, British Columbia. The conference starts on Thursday, October 16th and goes until Sunday, October 19th.

WESST R&O is a four-day conference held in October. It is typically held at a camp venue, complete with cabins, woods, and water.

Activities at Retreat & Olympics include:

  • Sessions and discussions on leadership development and non-profit organization management
  • WESST?s Annual General Meeting, including the election of a new WESST Executive and the presentation of bids for the Western Engineering Competition and next WESST Retreat & Olympics
  • WESST Olympics, to which each delegation brings a team-building event in which the other delegations compete
  • Informal networking and social time to develop bonds between schools and help provide new recruits with mentorship opportunities

RESS will be sending 3 of its members to WESST R&O 2014 in British Columbia. Each delegate shall pay a base delegate fee, $100. Priority will be given to society members with a history of ambition in student involvement within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, society members in the first half of their degree with no previous General Conference experience and Members of RESS running for a WESST Executive position or bidding to host a WESST conference.
